This programme teaches advanced technical skills around maintenance and management activities, as well as the skills for supervision and more senior roles. Projects for councils and residents will form part of the teaching, including the felling of large, difficult trees. Students will also be involved in work experience trips to regional councils. This programme builds on the knowledge gained in Applied Horticultural Services (Level 3), incorporating specialist techniques and understanding of arboriculture. The emphasis is on practical skills and technical expertise in tree assessment and care.
