Education Studies and Global Sustainable Development with Integrated International Foundation Programme - BASc (Hons)

This integrated four-year route combines Year 0 of the International Foundation Programme with Warwick's degree in Education Studies and Global Sustainable Development. The International Foundation Programme provides a strong foundation in the key ideas, theories, and methods used to understand how societies function and change. You will develop the analytical, research, and communication skills needed to study social issues critically and engage with real-world challenges from multiple perspectives.Throughout the course, you will explore how social, political, and cultural forces shape our world, examining topics such as power, justice, identity, and cultural representations. You will also learn to evaluate evidence, interpret data, and present well-structured academic arguments. Alongside this, you will strengthen your ability to collaborate, debate, and think independently, which are skills essential for success in higher education and beyond. By the end of this first year, students will have developed the academic foundations and be well prepared to progress Year 1 of BASc Education Studies and Global Sustainable Development.Are you passionate about examining the relationship between education, sustainable development, and the challenges facing the education sector? Are you enthused by finding new ways to promote learning about sustainability issues?This course seeks to prepare you to become a Global Citizen with a conscience, equipped with knowledge and understanding of the key issues of sustainable development from across a broad range of disciplines.Using a problem-based and solutions-focused approach, you will work with peers from other Global Sustainable Development (GSD) courses to explore complex issues, their implications and limitations and their inter-connectivity.We will encourage you to think critically and creatively about contemporary problems of global significance. You will explore ethically and morally complex areas in the search for positive interventions with a beneficial impact. Embracing new opinions from your peers across the world, we will challenge you to become an active participant in your own learning.You can enhance your skills and studies through optional work placements, study abroad, and certificates.
