Overview
For students interested in communications professions — such as advertising, journalism and public relations — the path to success now starts closer to home than ever. UC Clermont College's two-year Digital Media program prepares graduates for jobs in the field and is designed to help students transition seamlessly into the communications bachelor's degree program in UC's College of Arts and Sciences to complete their studies.
Besides offering a more accessible and affordable option to a UC communications degree, digital media Professor Andy Curran, who worked in radio and TV for 25 years, emphasizes the unique academic approach of the UC Clermont program. Courses will provide students with the media production skills they'll need to succeed in the communications field, covering the basics of video, audio, photography, animation, illustration and web application skills, as well as a range of other communication disciplines.
'With these tools available to everyone now, communications professionals — whether you're a journalist for a TV station or work in corporate public relations — need to understand how to produce quality video, audio and photos,' Curran says. 'It's all part of being able to effectively tell a story. And employers expect graduates to have these skills from their first day on the job.'
Graduates of the digital media communications program will have the option to transition directly into the communication program at UC's College of Arts and Sciences without losing any credit hours.
Career
