Students in the associate in applied science (AAS) degree in precision manufacturing technology is designed to meet the demand for specialized skill set trades in machinist and computer numerical control (CNC) operators in the manufacturing sector by preparing deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) students for employment in precision manufacturing technology industries through the acquisition of skills in computer aided design (CAD), computer numerical control (CNC) machining, tool and die making, and instrument making. Upon completion of the associate degree, students will be able to set up and operate lathes, milling machine tools, grinders, polishers, computer numerical controlled machine tools, and computer-aided manufacturing systems shape material into precision parts by conventional and nonconventional processes follow blueprints and use advanced measuring techniques to inspect work quality. Graduates will be successfully employed in both large manufacturing corporations and small contract manufacturing shops. This program is available for qualified deaf and hard of hearing students.

For all bachelors degree programs, a strong performance in a college preparatory program is expected. Generally, this includes:4 years of English3 years of social studies and/or history3-4 years of mathematics Specific math requirements are detailed by college below2-3 years of scienceSpecific science requirements are detailed by college belowCompletion of a High School Diploma or its equivalenceSubmit an official high school transcript. Transcripts may be sent electronically or mailed/emailed to RIT Admissions from your high school. Submit a letter of recommendation. A school counselor recommendation is preferred, teacher recommendations are welcome, and any additional recommendation letters will be considered (minimum of 1 recommendation letter required, suggested maximum of 3-5).
