Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care Technology

The Respiratory Care Technology program is a sequenced learning experience offering classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences relevant to the practice of state-of-the-art respiratory care. Graduates of the program receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are prepared to take board exams to earn the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. You will engage in didactical and clinical practice experiences that are designed to sequentially develop and apply critical thinking skills, concepts, and theories in the performance of respiratory care procedures. Respiratory Care involves the assessment and therapeutic management of patients diagnosed with cardiopulmonary disease. Practitioners perform procedures involving the administration of oxygen and medical gases, humidity/aerosol therapy, varied breathing treatments, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, diagnostic lung function testing, and patient/family education.
