Environmental science is the integrative study of our natural environment, land, water and air, and how humans affect and are affected by the environment. The environmental sciences program at SIUE is interdisciplinary and is designed to cultivate students’ perspectives of environmental issues and provide them with refined knowledge of environmental issues on a local, regional and global scale. The program curriculum will increase students’ technical competence in addressing these environmental issues, their origins, ramifications and resolutions. Students in the environmental sciences program have various opportunities to conduct research with faculty on diverse, multidisciplinary and cutting-edge topics in the fields of: Environmental biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Technology , Environmental policy. Students in the program gain professional experience through community service, internships and other hands-on learning opportunities.
