A major in nutrition and dietetics builds on the foundations of life and social sciences. Dietitians study the relationship between health, wellness, and the science behind food and nutrition. Registered dietitians are eligible for positions in hospitals, k-12 and college/university dining services, long-term care facilities, food service industry, food manufacturing companies, government-sponsored child nutrition programs, the armed forces and Veterans Administration, community and public health agencies, research and education.Western Michigan University's program in nutrition and dietetics leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
