At the academic heart of ASU, this program is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the university’s largest and most diverse college. Its world-renowned faculty include 15 National Academy of Sciences members, 3 Pulitzer Prize winners and 2 Noble Prize winners. In the Bachelor of Arts program in Italian, students learn to speak, write, read and comprehend Italian. They develop the ability to think critically, learn about and appreciate the historical and contemporary cultures of the Italian peninsula and their relationship to other global traditions, and develop empathy as globally informed leaders. Students complete courses on topics such as: art, culture, film, government, history, literature, religion. Students have a choice of four faculty-directed programs in Italy. In their chosen program, students can focus on developing their linguistic skills and learn more about Italy's contemporary responses to global challenges, such as natural disasters and the industrialized food system.
