In the African American African Diaspora art histories concentration students focus on the in depth study and critical analysis of art and visual culture related to African American and African Diaspora communities. The curriculum is designed to explore the historical cultural social and political contexts that shape the artistic expressions of these marginalized communities. Throughout the program students examine a wide range of visual art forms including traditional art contemporary art photography sculpture painting and other forms of creative representation.Courses delve into the art of the African continent the African Diaspora and the contributions of African American artists to the broader art world. Students analyze how these artistic expressions reflect identity resistance and cultural heritage.The program places a significant emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches encouraging students to draw connections between art history anthropology sociology and other relevant fields.
