Applicants are required to have achieved ABB at A level, including a grade B in the advanced language they wish to study. Alternatively, IB applicants must have a 6,5,5 profile with a total of 32 points, including Higher Level or equivalent in the modern language they plan to study. For BTEC students, an Extended Diploma with DDM alongside a grade B at A level in the relevant subject(s) is required. Three A levels are necessary overall. It is possible to study two beginner languages (including post-GCSE) without an advanced language A level. General Studies is accepted. BTEC Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma applicants must have equivalent grades combined with A level qualifications as specified. Additionally, applicants wishing to study advanced French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Russian who are not taking the language at A level may be considered if they hold an independent language diploma at B2 level, such as DELF-B2, DELE-B2, Goethe-Zertifikat-B2, DILI-B2, or TRKI 2nd Certificate, assessed according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. These diplomas must be taken alongside three A levels or equivalent qualifications.
