Applicants are required to have ABB at A level, including a grade B in the advanced language they wish to study. For the International Baccalaureate (IB), a score of 6,5,5 with a total of 32 points is required. BTEC applicants should have a BTEC Extended Diploma with DDM grades, plus a B at A level in the relevant subject(s). A minimum of three A levels is required overall. It is also possible to study two beginner (including post-GCSE) languages without taking an advanced language. General Studies is accepted. For the IB Diploma, applicants must achieve 6,5,5 in Higher Level subjects plus 32 points overall, including a Higher Level or equivalent in the modern language they plan to study. BTEC qualifications accepted include Extended Diploma (DDM plus B at A level), Diploma (DD plus B at A level), and Subsidiary Diploma (D plus AB at A level) in the relevant subjects. Additionally, applicants not currently studying the required language at A level may be considered if they hold an independent language diploma at B2 level, such as DELF-B2 (French), DELE-B2 (Spanish), Goethe-Zertifikat-B2 (German), DILI-B2 (Italian), or TRKI 2nd Certificate (Russian). These diplomas, assessed against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, can be studied independently or through a language centre, and will be considered when presented alongside three A levels or equivalent qualifications.
