The Institute for Connected Communities (ICC) is committed to research that responds to issues of current global importance including health, harms, and wellbeing online and offline. We also study the human aspects of cyber and digital with a focus on youth, community cohesion, addressing inequality and sustainability through a multi-disciplinary lens.
From working with some of the poorest, most marginalised and mobile communities in the UK to promote health and reduce inequalities, to working closely with the UK and international governments, safety tech industry, NGOs and charities in the online harms and cybercrime arenas, we use cutting-edge, evidence-based approaches to produce high-quality research that directly influences policy and practice. Studying for a PhD with ICC thus offers the candidate a challenging and invigorating experience in one of UEL's apex institutes.
