We study the gas phase and aerosol composition of the troposphere and stratosphere, including local, regional and global scale air pollution, stratospheric ozone depletion, and composition-climate interactions. Our research includes laboratory studies, ground and aircraft-based field measurements, data analysis and numerical modelling. We are engaged in several UK and international field campaigns and we are leading the development of advanced numerical models of chemistry, cloud systems, aerosol, and their effects on precipitation, atmospheric composition, and climate.

The minimum entry requirements for Mphil study is a 2.1 honours degree, or equivalent, in a subject relating to your proposed area of research, or a good performance in a Masters level course in a relevant subject. A first class honours degree (or equivalent) is usually required to be competitive for scholarship funding and a Masters degree is also a valuable asset.
